Ssangyong E&C announced that the global builder’s Bedok Mall and Residences Project won the Construction Excellence Award in the commercial and mixed-use development category at the 2017 BCA Awards ceremony on June 13.

As a result, Ssangyong E&C will continue its record of winning the BCA Awards for nine years in a row, picking up prizes at the award ceremony a total of 29 times.

In addition, the Bedok Mall and Residences Project set a new record of winning prizes in four categories –- CEA, BIM (Beam), Green Mark (Eco Friendly) and Green & Gracious (Construction Site Management) –- among a total of ten categories of the BCA Awards.

The 250-billion-won project, which Ssangyong E&C landed from CapitaLand, one of the largest private clients in Singapore, in the “design and build” method, was completed last year with a multi-purpose complex consisting of eight buildings and 583 condominiums, shopping malls, bus terminals and transfer parking lots. Even though it was a tough project with a complex construction process, the Korea-based global contractor smoothly implemented the project without any error and achieved perfect quality by applying BIM (building information modeling), which is a 3D stereoscopic design. This performance bestowed the prizes on Ssangyong E&C.

"We reconfirmed that we have the best construction capacity among builders that are active in the Singaporean market by setting a new record of winning prizes at the BCA Awards for the ninth consecutive year," said a representative of Ssangyong E&C. “In particular, the Singaporean government evaluated that Ssangyong E&C did a perfect job by perfectly carrying out the difficult project."
