Samsung Electronics announced on May 19 that it held the Galaxy S8 unveiling event in city near Beijing, China, on the 18th (local time). The company plans to provide various customized services for Chinese users through the partnership with a local content producer and add the Chinese language in its Bixby artificial intelligence (AI) assistant system in the near future.

Samsung Electronics currently operates nine production bases in China in order to offer tailored products and services in the nation. The company also employs more than 4,000 workers at its seven R&D centers and design centers.

With the release of the Galaxy S8, Samsung Electronics is also planning to strengthen the partnership with Chinese companies. First, the company will work together with major Chinese online service providers to allow users to search places, images and wines and shop through its AI interface Bixby, which is to be unveiled through the Galaxy S8 for the first time. It will also add the Chinese language in Bixby soon.

To celebrate the launch of “Demi Gods and Semi Devils,” a new mobile game produced by Chinese content giant Tencent, Samsung Electronics will carry out joint marketing campaigns with Galaxy smartphones’ game launchers.

In addition, the company will enable Galaxy S8 users to play game and broadcast live at the same time in cooperation with Chinese online video platform iQiyi. It will also allow 360° live streaming using its virtual reality (VR) device Gear 360 through social media platform Weibo.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be officially released in China on the 25th (local time). They will come in four colors – Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Maple Gold and Coral Blue. The Galaxy S8 will be priced at 5,688 yuan (US$827 or 928,510 won), and the Galaxy S8+ at 6,188 yuan (US$899 or 1.01 million won).

The Galaxy S8+ Midnight Black is equipped with 128GB of internal storage with a price tag of 6,988 yuan (US$1,016 or 1.14 million won)

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has begun the presale of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ online and offline from the 10th. Pre-ordering customers will get the phones in advance of the official release day.
