Samsung Electronics India announced on May 12 that the Z4, the fourth smartphone of Samsung Electronics running on its Tizen OS, makes its debut in India on May 19. The price of the product is 5,790 rupees, which is approximately US$90.

The Z4 comes with Tizen 3.0, the latest version of the OS, along with a 4.5-inch screen, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, a 1 GB RAM, an 8 GB internal memory and five-megapixel front and rear cameras. The front camera is equipped with an LED flashlight and the rear camera has dual flashlights for better selfie and picture taking.

“The smartphone market of India has a huge growth potential in that the number of feature phone users in the market is still as large as 500 million,” Samsung Electronics India explained, adding, “We hope that the Z4 of Samsung Electronics, which is a company leading the growth of the smartphone market of India, will accelerate their shift from feature phone to smartphone.”

Earlier in January 2015, Samsung Electronics released its first Tizen smartphone Z1 in India, trying to increase the presence of its operating system in the global smartphone market dominated by iOS and Android.
