Safety of Nuclear Fuel
KEPCO Nuclear Fuel (President Lee Jae-hee) announced that it has developed an international level nuclear design code quality guarantee system, improving the safety of nuclear fuel. With the latest development, the company has set a foundation to push into the global market.
Design code is a type of nuclear fuel software. KEPCO Nuclear Fuel developed its own design code quality guarantee procedure, six guidelines and document registration system called iCODE for two years since 2015 and is using them for maintenance.
In addition, the company developed its quality guarantee system, which is required to tap into the global market. Accordingly, it will be able to continuously create profits through maintenance and quality management businesses when it supplies its design code to overseas companies in the future.
Last year, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel developed its own exportable nuclear power plant operational support system dubbed “Operational Core Analysis and Simulation System (OASIS)” for the third time in the world and the uranium refining technology for the first time in the domestic industry.
President Lee Jae-hee said, “We continuously make an effort to develop and research not only hardware but also software in order to expand the base overseas in the nuclear power sector in where the safety and quality come first. Through our own accumulated technology competence, we will focus on creating a new growth engine.”
