Market research firm App Annie announced on May 10 that South Korean Android phone users spent an average of 200 minutes a day on their mobile apps in the first quarter of this year, followed by users in Brazil, Mexico and Japan.

According to its report, the South Korean users spent one-fourth of the time on games whereas those in Brazil and Mexico spent at least 50% on social networking and communication. The smartphone users covered by the survey used an average of more than 30 mobile apps each month and the number is equivalent to 30% to 50% of the number of the apps installed on their phones. The research firm added that the number was at least nine on a daily basis and iOS users used slightly more apps than Android on an average day.

According to App Annie, the iOS showed a larger average profit per app user although Android phone users’ game app usage was 130% of that of iOS users. The report also said that dating and productivity apps were launched four times on an average day and finance and productivity apps were run for less than a minute each time.

The market research firm mentioned that smartphone users across the world spent one trillion hours on their mobile apps last year and the length of the time is likely to be maintained at that level this year.
