Email Security Platform
Kiwontech, a member company of the K-ICT Born2Global Center, announced on May 8, that it will be launching its own AI-integrated email security solution SCM GUARD this month to provide it to Japanese companies.
Earlier, the Korean startup had signed MOUs with Japanese IT companies Taiyo and i-Service in March to provide the email security platform. The value is expected to be US$200,000 (23 million yen). Taiyo is a subsidiary of the global IT group NTT, and i-Service is a well-known IT solution company that has been in business for over 10 years.
SCM GUARD, which was independently developed by Kiwontech, is an email security solution that provides effective protection against social engineering hacking. It offers not only effective defense from advanced persistent threats (APTs) but also an easily customizable email service. The product’s most distinctive feature is its firewall, which prevents APT attacks on a fundamental level by detecting any potentially dangerous elements in emails that arrive in the user’s inbox and blocking the user from opening those emails.
“SCM GUARD is capable of analyzing and screening various types of email-based threats with which existing email firewall services are unable to cope. It also enables the preliminary detection of emails with unusual characteristics (e.g. APT attacks, spear phishing). We believe that our product’s ability to screen preemptively and intelligently the malicious emails, which appear to be sent from real email addresses, will be particularly well received in Japan. Having joined forces with several renowned foreign corporations, we will do our very best to offer a top-quality AI email security platform overseas,” CEO Dong-cheol Kim said.
Kiwontech also signed an MOU in April 2016 with the Vietnamese company VNetwork to launch SCM GUARD in Vietnam. Beginning in June, the company plans to release an AI-enabled email security platform service optimized for Southeast Asia. Kiwontech’s ultimate goal is to launch its cutting-edge email security platform worldwide within the next three years.
