THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES, the first regular season tournament of the US PGA golf tour in Korea will be held at Nine Bridges Golf Course on Jeju Island.

The CJ Group announced the location and logo of the contest in the official agreement ceremony for the successful hosting of PGA Tour and the tournament in Samda Hall at the headquarters of Jeju Special Self-governing Provincial Government on April 13. The event was attended by chairman Sohn Kyung-sik of the CJ Group, governor Won Hee-ryong of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and Jeff Monday, vice-president of PGA Tour Asia.

Nine Bridges Golf Course located in Seogwipo City of Jeju, which is the venue of the golf tournament is CJ’ premium golf club which hosted world-class golf competitions such as the CJ Nine Bridges Classic, Korea's first LPGA tournament, and the amateur World Club Championship (WCC). The golf course is reputed to have led the advancement and globalization of Korean golf clubs, listing it in the world's top 100 golf clubs as the only Korean golf course. This event will make Nine Bridges the only golf course in Korea to host both a PGA Tour event and an LPGA Tour regular season tournament.

"I look forward to watching some of the best players in the world show wonder plays at Nine Bridges which is blended with the beautiful nature of Jeju. We are here to pledge to do our best to make THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES the best competition."

"I hope that The CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES to be held in Jeju with a nice natural environment will grow into a world-class sports and cultural platform that will spark off the vitalization of the Jeju economy and a renaissance of the slumping Korean men's professional golf." CJ Group chairman Son Kyung-sik said.

The official logo of the contest unwrapped on the day describes CJ Group's identity so that the logo can be differentiated as the event will be held in the world-class golf course.

On the other hand, this competition will earn Jeju Special Self-Governing Province an opportunity to promote the beauty of Jeju Island to the whole world. On top of that, by supporting advertising activities inside and outside the airport, major roads, and tourism promotion materials, the province plans to publicize Jeju Island to tourists to Jeju Island through the tournament. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will also organize specialized teams for administrative support such as policing, firefighting, and medical service as well as financial support for the successful hosting of the contest.

THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES, the first regular PGA competition in Korea, will be held in Korea for the next 10 years beginning with the 2017-2018 PGA Tour season. Its total prize pool is US$ 9.25 million which sits at the highest level of regular PGA Tour competitions. THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES will run from October 16 to 22, with a total of 78 athletes expected to excite golf fans with nice plays without a cut-off for four days.

The CJ Group will provide Korean players with talent and an enterprising spirit with opportunities to compete in the event in accordance with the contest slogan of “Bridge to Realization,” which will provide a foothold for Korean players to enter the world stage.
