The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on April 11 that South Korean companies and products were facing 187 different import regulations and related investigations in 30 countries as of the end last month.

Four of the investigations started this year. Japan launched its anti-dumping investigation on tube and pipe fittings imported from South Korea and China last month. China initiated an investigation on methyl isobutyl ketone from South Korea, Japan and South Africa in March this year, too. In the previous month, Turkey called terephthalic acid from South Korea into question. In January, India initiated investigations on synthetic filament yarns from South Korea, China and Taiwan.

139 out of the 187 regulations and investigations are anti-dumping regulations and investigations. Safeguard measures and anti-dumping and countervailing duties total 41 and seven, respectively. India accounts for 33 out of the total, followed by the United States (23) and China (14).

90 of the regulations and investigations are related to steel and metal products. 53, 14 and seven are targeting chemical, textile and electrical and electronic products, respectively. In the past one year, 25 anti-dumping investigations started anew while one anti-dumping and countervailing duty and nine safeguard measures were put into effect.
