Doosan Infracore took 6th place in construction machinery sales of US$4.95 billion, up two notches from eighth place in 2015.

Doosan Infracore forecast consolidated sales of 6.55 trillion won (US$5.89 billion) and operating profit of 504.6 billion won (US$454 million) this year.

Doosan Infracore came in sixth in the world construction machinery industry. According to “Yellow Table” of the UK construction heavy equipment media group KHL on April 9, Doosan Infracore took 6th place in construction machinery sales of US$4.95 billion, up two notches from eighth place in 2015. Its market share rose by 0.2 percentage points to 3.8 percent, the highest in its history.

Doosan Infracore's performance is attributable to the growth of its subsidiary Doosan Bobcat, a recovery of the excavator market in China, and a good fight in emerging markets.

Doosan Bobcat's sales have grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.3% since 2011 with sales in Europe and emerging markets jumping 6.3% and 4.4% year on year, respectively.

In China, Doosan Infracore's excavator sales reached 4,649 units last year with its market share up 0.7% to 7.4% from the previous year. Its sales in the Chinese excavator market have been rising with sales of 1,497 units in January and February, more than three times that of the same period of last year, thanks to a recovery in demand in major front industries such as infrastructure and mining.

Sales in emerging markets also turned to growth as sales volume recovered from the second half of last year. Doosan Infracore raised its coverage in emerging markets from 82% in 2012 to 93% in 2016 by focusing on expanding sales networks in emerging markets.
