On April 5, KOWEPO signed a memorandum of understanding with Perhutani, the largest public company under the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, to cooperate in the development of biomass and biomass-based power generation business.

Denald M. Mauna, president of Perhutani, visited Korea for signing the memorandum of understanding with great interest in Indonesia's biomass development and development project, and strongly hoped to cooperate with KOWEPO, a specialist in that sector. Both companies agreed to jointly develop the biomass power generation business in the first phase and then produce wood pellets and wood chips through the planting of trees in land of up to 200,000 hectares in the second phase, and develop biomass power generation projects to generate up to 600MW.

In addition, Perhutani has a big interest in photovoltaic and hydroelectric power generation and agreed to cooperate with KOWEPO in this sector.

"The signing of the memorandum of understanding will fuel our plan to expand our power generation business, including coal-fired power generation and integrated gasification combined cycle power generation, in addition to biomass power generation by selecting Indonesia as our second growth base," said a representative of KOWEPO.

In the meantime, KOWEPO is currently running the 300MW Sumsel-5 O&M business and marine loading terminal project in India, and is putting its efforts in development by expanding the workforce of its local office.
