SK Telecom CEO Park Jung-ho met Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam on April 3 and discussed partnerships on the standardization of 5G technologies, co-development of solutions for the 5G Automotive Association and the exchange of Internet of Things platforms.

In particular, Verizon and SKT agreed to strengthen collaboration on the Internet of Things (IoT) area including 5G-based connected car technologies, the two firms said. They agreed to co-develop SKT’s vehicle to everything technologies, known as V2X technologies, and other telematics solutions.

“SKT will continue working with world-class telecom companies to move forward the standardization of 5G technologies,” said the CEO Park of SKT. Park is also scheduled to meet with Tim Hoettgest, chairman of Deutsche Telekom, on April 11 to talk about collaboration in the artificial intelligence business.

“Our meeting with No. 1 players from the US and Europe will speed up the commercialization of the 5G network-related services,” Park said, adding, “Together with leading global mobile carriers, we plan to speed up the 5G technology standardization and develop various services based on the network." He stressed SK Telecom will strive to expand the global ICT ecosystem.
