Hyundai Mobis has secures the Level 2 highway driving support technology (HDA2) (based on the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) that can change lanes on the expressway and enter a branch, and is now preparing for its mass production in 2019.

According to Hyundai Mobis on April 2, the HDA2 is a technology that upgrades the performances of a highway driving support system, which is now mass-produced and used for some vehicles. The current HDA1 system holds the key to keeping track of the front car while keeping a lane on a highway. Entry into a lane change or entering branches such as ICs or JCs must be manually operated by a driver.

On the other hand, when a driver turns on the turn indicator during an autonomous drive on an expressway, a car can change into another lane itself or enter a branch and join the main line by harnessing the HDA2 system.

Hyundai Mobis aims to secure highway autonomous navigation system technology at level 3 or higher by 2020 and commercialize it in 2022. This system, which is more advanced than HDA2, realizes an autonomous freeway drive without a driver’s intervention.
