The alleged photos of internal batteries for Samsung Electronics’ next strategic smartphone Galaxy S8, which is scheduled to be unveiled on March 30, have leaked.

IT Industry tracker Slashleaks, which collects and leaks photos of new smartphones in advance, released two photos of rectangular-shaped battery on the 21st.

The images are presumed a 3,000 milliamp hour (mAh) battery for the Galaxy S8 and a 3,500mAh battery for the Galaxy S8 Plus.

It says on the surface of the battery that cell is made in Korea and assembled in Vietnam. It also says that it is the secondary Li-ion battery produced by Samsung SDI. Samsung released the Galaxy Note 7 with a battery capacity of 3,500mAh last year, but the production was suspended due to battery problems that caused some of the devices to catch fire. Experts presumed the defect was attributable to excessively high energy density.

Industry sources believe that Samsung Electronics has decided to adopt a smaller battery to the Galaxy S8, which has a larger display and boasts more features than its predecessor Galaxy Note 7, to improve the product's safety

However, some industry watchers say that the 3,000mAh battery, which is 15 percent smaller than that of the Galaxy Note 7, may not be sufficient to satisfy the users of the upcoming smartphone. Samsung-obsessed tech website SamMobile said, “Samsung Electronics either has succeeded in boosting significantly the battery efficiency of the Galaxy S8 or will face customer complaints about insufficient battery again as it did with the Galaxy S6.”

Meanwhile, the pictures of Samsung Electronics’ retail box and contents of the Galaxy S8 Plus also leaked. China’s famous Twitter user @UniverseIce revealed the photos of the front and back of the retail box of the Galaxy S8 Plus on the 23rd.

On the front of the retail box, the storage capacity of 64GB and the model name of Samsung Galaxy S8+ are printed on the bottom and the top, while “S8+” is printed in blue in the center.
