Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co won a 300 billion won (US$260 million) deal to upgrade an existing power plant in Indonesia.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. succeeded in winning a similar deal in three months after it clinched a deal worth of 180 billion won (US$156 million) for Grati combined cycle power plant in Indonesia last December.

The South Korea's top power equipment maker said on March 14 that it won a 470 billion-won (US$408 million) deal to upgrade an existing power plant in Indonesia through forming a consortium with the Indonesian state-run builder PT Hutma Karya.

Among the total amount of the deal with the state-run Indonesian PLN, 300 billion won (US$260 million) belongs to Doosan.

The consortium will switch off a gas-powered plant in Mara Tawara, which is located some 40 kilometers east of Jakarta, into a combined cycle power plant by providing eight units of heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and three units of steam turbines over the next 30 months. By doing that, the plant will increase the energy production to 1,800 megawatts from the current 1,150 megawatts.

Last year, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction clinched some 9.05 trillion won worth of orders, up 5.7 percent from a year earlier. This year, the company is aiming for 10.6 trillion won (US$9.2 billion) worth of new orders.
