Dishonored Insurers
Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance were dishonored as insurers with the most complaints from incomplete sales.
Minjoo Party lawmaker Park Yong-jin analyzed data on insufficient explanations about insurance policies from the Financial Supervisory Service on March 13. As a result, a total of 20,994 complaints have been filed for the past five years. The number includes complaints at both life insurance and non-life companies.
Among them, Samsung Life Insurance received the largest number of complaints. Over the past five years, Samsung Life Insurance has received 2936 complaints. Among life insurers, Tong Yang Life Insurance (2520 cases) ranked second, KDB Life Insurance (2,328 cases) third, Kyobo Life Insurance (2044 cases) fourth and Hanhwa Life Insurance (1924 cases) fifth.
Among non-life insurers, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance recorded the biggest number of complainants. The non-life insurer received 1359 complaints. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance was followed by Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance (1354) and Dongbu Insurance (1281), KB Insurance (939) and Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance (893).
