Samsung Electronics' next smartphone Galaxy S8 is being promoted through word of mouth among global consumers even before its official launch.

According to Visible Measures which measures online videos’ popularity on March 12, a Galaxy S8 teaser video was selected as the most watched corporate brand viral video in the world last week.

A viral video is an image that spreads quickly like a computer virus among users through the internet. Interesting videos about incidents and happenings or movie and game trailers can spread in this fashion. Many companies want to distribute videos about their corporate images, products or services in this way. The Visible Merger ranks videos about corporate images, products or services.

A Galaxy S8 teaser video released last month was watched 26.6 million times around the world last week. The video overtook YouTube Rewind which placed first in a few weeks. YouTube Rewind is a compilation of YouTube videos that gained in a lot of popularity last year.

Samsung Electronics presaged that the Galaxy S8 will try new innovative features by presenting various mobile phone use cases in a 30-second Galaxy S8 teaser video under the theme of “This Is a Phone. Until now.”

This teaser video attracted great attention, exceeding 15.5 million views on YouTube.

Last week, LG Electronics' top teaser video "Life with Big," which emphasizes its G6's large display and comfortable grip, was ranked fifth in the corporate brand viral video rankings of Visible Megazers. This video chalked up over 1.3 million views.

The Rest of Us,” a video which introduced Samsung's Galaxy S7 and 360-degree camera Gear 360, came in No. 10 with 6.93 million viewers.

Samsung Electronics is also running a new version of Samsung Galaxy S8 teaser video on TV since March 9. The 15-second ad gives a special meaning to the Galaxy S8, emphasizing that "Do," which is the start and end of a major scale.

Samsung Electronics will hold a Galaxy S8 launch event at the Lincoln Center in New York and the London Here East in London on March 29 (local time). The Galaxy S8 is loaded with artificial intelligence (AI) virtual secretary Bixby, iris and fingerprint sensors and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (or Exynos 8895) processor. The product comes with a Harman AKG earphone. This product is expected to set a new sales record among the Galaxy S series.
