Apple’s New Phones
KT’s online pre-orders for Apple’s latest iPhones ended in 7 minutes.
At 3:00 pm on October 18, SK Telecom and KT Corporation began taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5s and 5c, which are scheduled to be introduced on October 25, via Apple’s online and retail stores. KT’s online pre-orders for 5,000 customers on a first-come-first-served basis ended after 7 minutes, while those of SK Telecom finished in 13 minutes. The latest models will be available for advance order at offline retail shops just before the scheduled release date.
Like the iPhone 5, pricing starts at 814,000 won (US$766) for the 16GB model, 946,000 won (US$891) for 32GB, and 1,078,000 won (US$1,014) for a 64GB iPhone 5s. The 16GB iPhone 5c costs 704,000 won (US$663) per unit.
People can trade in their old smartphone for a new iPhone 5s or 5c through T Eco-phone, SK Telecom’s buyback program for used cell phones, and KT’s olleh Green Phone buyback program. Under these programs, a new iPhone 5s can be bought in the price range of 200,000-300,000 won (US$188-US$282).
