In February, total import car sales rose 3.5% year on year. The best-selling model was the Mercedes E220d.

The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association said on March 7 that the number of new imported cars registered in February stood at 16,212. The figure slid by 2.8% from the previous month but grew 3.5% from a year ago. Cumulative sales in the January-February period rose 3.1 percent year on year to 31,905 units.

By brand, Mercedes-Benz sold 5,534 vehicles in February, topping the list. Despite a drop in sales compared to January, the gap between Mercedes-Benz and BMW (3,202 units) was 2,300. Lexus (896), Land Rover (765) and Toyota (741) placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively. They were followed by Ford (709), Mini (582), Volvo (570) and Honda (490).

The best-selling model in February was the Mercedes E 220d (998 units), followed by the Mercedes E 200 (829) and the Lexus ES 300h (617).
