Galaxy S8 Event
Samsung Electronics will unveil its next strategic smartphone Galaxy S8 in New York of the US and UK on March 29.
Samsung Electronics made such an announcement in a press conference at the Catalonia Congress Center in Barcelona, Spain on May 26 (local time), the day before the opening of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.
Samsung will simultaneously hold the “Samsung Galaxy Unpacked” event that will unveil the Galaxy S8 at Lincoln Center, New York and Here East in London. Here East was used as a media center during the 2012 London Olympics.
The invitation disclosed on the day had symbolic expressions of the evolution of cell phones from the 1980s to the 1990s and the 2000s, and is foretelling the new evolution of mobile phones via this unpacking event.
With the phrase "Unbox Your Phone," the invitation gives people much anticipation that the new Galaxy will become a new product that breaks up the frame of current mobile phones.
For the first time, Samsung Electronics will set up unpacking boxes in four countries around the world. The plan aims to provide customers with new experiences to produce their own unpacking invitations via social media such as by taking selfies against the backdrop of unpacked boxes.
The unpacking boxes can be found at the Catalonia Congress Center in Barcelona where the press conference was held on February 26, Fira Gran Via where the MWC 2017 will be held, 837 centers in New York, USA, and Samsung Electronics Headquarters in Suwon Digital City, Korea. In the meantime, at the press conference on the day, Samsung Electronics unveiled two new tablet models – the “Galaxy Tab S3” and the “Galaxy Book.” They come with “S Pen” which was applied to a smart phone (the Galaxy Note) and sport four stereo speakers for the first time as Samsung tablets.
