Samsung Electronics unveiled its three new premium tablet computers at a press conference at Catalonia Congress Center in Barcelona, Spain, on Feb. 26 (local time), a day before the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry.

The company introduced 9.7-inch Android-based “Galaxy Tab S3” tablet computer and Windows-based 2-in-1 “Galaxy Book” tablet. David Lowes, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics Europe, said, “The Galaxy Tab S3 and the Galaxy Book show the evolution in the tablet category. These products embrace all from multimedia, entertainment and efficiency to design.”

The Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book have a Super AMOLED display that not only supports 4K video content, but high dynamic range (HDR), which means a wider range of colors and better contrast, as well. The products also come with the S Pen stylus that is the hallmark of the Galaxy Note series. The S Pen is more refined and accurate than its previous version thanks to a 0.7mm tip and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The S Pen at just over 9mm does not require charging. With the S Pen, users can use features like Magnify, which allows them to zoom in to a specific part of the display in the ratio they want, and Smart Select, a popular option that lets people create animated GIFs by selecting part of existing videos as well as images. With the Samsung Flow app on both a Galaxy phone and a Galaxy tablet, users can enjoy an almost seamless experience sharing contents such as images, videos and documents between the two devices.

In addition, the Galaxy Tab S3 is the first Samsung tablet to feature quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by Harman. “Auto Rotate Stereo” function allows the tablet to redirect sound based on its orientation, creating a more accurate and consistent listening experience. The Galaxy Tab S3 is the first cooperative project between Samsung and Harman since the Korean electronics giant acquired the U.S. audio and automotive electronics company last year. Upcoming Galaxy smartphones will be also equipped with Harman’s AKG technology. They will come with a high-quality earphone featuring Harman's AKG technology. The Galaxy Tab S3 has a glass back and metal frame just like the strategic smartphone model. It comes in two colors – black and silver.

Samsung Electronics also unveiled the brand-new Gear VR with Controller, which enables users to interact with VR games with the controller that can recognize gestures. The Gear VR with Controller offers 42mm lenses with 101-degree Field of View (FOV) to bring more vivid experience in virtual reality. The controller is equipped with the touch pad with gesture detection. Ergonomically designed for use, the controller also provides comfortable grip feeling even when using it for long periods of time.

The company also introduced its full product line up for 5G RF Integrated Circuit (RFIC) services including consumer devices, base stations and next-generation network core equipment. These products support fixed wireless access, which is an initial version of next-generation 5G services. Samsung Electronics, in cooperation with Verizon, the largest mobile carrier in the U.S., will offer its pilot services from Apr. and commercial services from early next year.
