World’s Best Green Car

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) picked the Hyundai Ioniq Electric as the best electric vehicle in the world on its 20th list of green cars. This year, the American non-profit organization picked out 12 green cars based on its Green Score, which is calculated based on the Environmental Damage Index (EDX) covering the degree of generation of pollution in automobile manufacturing processes, the degree of generation of pollution during vehicle fuel manufacturing and transport and the amount of exhaust emissions.

According to the ACEEE, the Hyundai Ioniq Electric posted an EDX of 0.78 and scored 64 on a scale of 0 to 100. It was followed by the BMW i3 (EDX: 0.80, Green Score: 64) and the Toyota Prius Eco (EDX: 0.85, Green Score: 62). During the past 10 years, compact cars were mainly selected as the best green cars on the ACEEE list. More recently, however, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric cars increased their presence last year and this year.

The ACEEE is a non-profit organization located in the United States and concentrating on the introduction of eco-friendly policy, an increase in eco-friendly investment and the innovation of green technology.

The Hyundai Ioniq Electric comes with a battery with a capacity of 28 kWh. Once fully charged, it can cover a distance of up to 191 kilometers. The Hyundai Ioniq Electric makes its debut in the United States with the Ioniq Hybrid in the first half of this year.
