Korean Shiitake mushrooms have been recognized for their effects on health.

The Chungcheong South Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services (CNARES) announced on October 16 that the Huffington Post recently covered Korean Shiitake mushrooms as one of 16 super foods in the world that are tasty and healthy. The mushrooms were introduced after Greek olives, Japanese beans, Thai ginseng, and Italian tomatoes.

CNARES said that those mushrooms have plenty of Vitamin D, reduce cholesterol, and help improve immune systems. The mushrooms deserve to be called a super food, since they can improve both cancer patients’ quality of life and their survival rates thanks to anti-tumor substance Letinan.

In particular, Shiitake mushrooms raised in Korea contain Eritadenine that eliminates cholesterol, thereby helping blood circulation.
