Chief of Nuclear Operators
Lee Kwan-sup, CEO and president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), took office as chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).
KHNP announced that its president Lee Kwan-sup was elected as new chairman of the WANO in a board of directors meeting of the WANO in Abu Dhabi, the UAE on January 26 (local time).
The WANO is a consultative body of nuclear operators to improve the safety and reliability of nuclear power plants around the world. President Lee will demonstrate his global leadership as WANO chairman in the future.
Representatives of WANO member companies gather every two years. Its biennial general meeting will be held in Gyeongju, Korea, this October. The WANO plans to use this conference as an opportunity to upgrade the functions and roles of the WANO for the safe operation of nuclear power plants in Northeast Asia.
