Lee Seok-hong, general manager of the Research and Development HQ of Hyundai E&C, Shin Hak-chul, senior vice chairman of the Overseas Business Division at 3M and Koen Wilms, president of the Asian Business Division at 3M agreed to acquire future construction technology through technology convergence and continuously exchange global innovation cultures, going beyond unit-by-unit technological cooperation, in a signing ceremony held at Hyundai E&C’s Research and Development HQ on January 23.  

This MOU features the early acquisition and advancement of construction technology through joint research on technology convergence projects and the development of technology for interior and exterior materials for skyscrapers.

Hyundai E&C plans to install prototype products such as dust brushes and anti-dust door mats usable at construction sites and test their technological performances in a green smart building in its Research and Development HQ. In the long term, the builder will improve their technology performances by applying items such as structural adhesive tapes and filters for air conditioners.

Hyundai E&C plans to secure future construction technologies through joint research on concrete curing, the prevention of excessive floor noises and lighting and earthquake resistance that have become issues in the current construction industry with 3M. 

Through this alliance, Hyundai E&C and 3M secured an advantageous position in the construction and chemical industries in terms of their competitiveness by expanding their bases for future growth business by means of leading innovation and technology cooperation
