Top Selling Smartphones
Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S4 was sold the most in the global smartphone market in August.
According to the Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Technology Market Research, around 5 million units of the Galaxy S4 were estimated to be sold in August, but the figure sharply decreased from its monthly peak of 7 million in June.
The market researcher said this was because other Galaxy smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy 2 eroded the market amid sustained strong sales of the Galaxy S4. Samsung’s Galaxy series, including the Galaxy Note 2, ranked in the top 10 best-sellers list.
Samsung took the #1 position in the market of premium smartphones above US$400 for the first time in May this year by displacing Apple. The premium smartphone market is almost at a standstill, but still growing generally.
