Expansion into Global Business
Jang Dong-hyun, new CEO of SK Holdings, emphasized the company's expansion into the global market and the steady development of new business items in a ceremony in honor of the first business day of the company in its headquarters building in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province on January 2.
"We need to secure global competitiveness that can empower us to raise corporate value, survive and stand side by side with the world's leading companies," Jang said. “We need to diversify our business models while searching for new business items. Our hot issues are the realization of economies of scale, the enhancement of operational efficiency and solidarity with the parent group’s new growth directions."
"We ought to scale up our market shares in the artificial intelligence and cloud business areas which we have been preparing for and shift our management structure to a digital-oriented high-value-added one," CEO Jang continued. "We have to stabilize our business and achieve economies of scale by strengthening our capabilities in the areas of smart factories and logistics."
Jang also asked employees to create SK Holdings enterprising corporate culture. "New challenges and changes that we are going to face will require stronger passions, stoical wisdom, and teamwork," he said. "If we take quick actions and make drastic changes in addition to the accomplishment of the above-mentioned items, we will be able to ride out any difficulties from endless global competition, no matter how big they are."
