Kia Motors’ first rear-wheel driving sports sedan “Stinger” has been rolled up.

Kia Motors unveiled the Stinger, a premium rear-wheel, five-seat premium performance sedan at the preliminary media event for the Detroit Auto Show held on January 8 (local time) in the US.

The four-door coupe equipped with Kia`s Drive Wise suite of safety features has a length of 4,830mm, width 1,870mm, height 1400mm and wheelbase of 2,905mm and with a large loading capacity at 660 liters.

The Stinger comes in two gasoline engine types at the show: Theta II 2.0 turbo GDI and Lamda II V6 3.3 twin-turbo GDI. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 255 horsepower and 36.0kgf·m of torque. The higher-spec Stinger GT features a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 having 370 horsepower and 52.0kgf·m of torque, which enables the car to reach 100km/h in 5.1 seconds, the fastest acceleration performance among Kia models.

The Stringer models are the only 4WD sedans of Kia, coming standard with a second-generation rear-wheel driving eight-speed automatic transmission that ensures a smooth change of speed and fuel efficiency.

The Stinger has been reborn as a mass-produced version of the concept car Gran Turismo (GT) in six years since it was showcased in the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.
