Inter-Korea Relationship
The investment conference scheduled for October 31 in the Kaesong Industrial Complex foundered in the end. Both Koreas were planning to hold the conference with foreign investors in Korea after agreeing on the constructive stabilization of the industrial complex back in August this year.
“Situations have gone wrong these days, as seen in the recent delay in inter-Korean communications, and as such we have judged that we cannot meet the purpose of the conference for now,” said a high-ranking official in the South Korean government.
He added, “We have delivered our opinion to this effect to the North on October 11, and will discuss the schedule of the conference again allowing for future situations and the response from foreign companies.” Still, the Kaesong Industrial Complex is in normal operation now.
