The Walkerhill Hotel announced on December 20 that it will open the nation’s first capsule hotel at the Incheon International Airport on January 20. A capsule hotel is a type of hotel that features a large number of extremely small one-person rooms with a bed and a bathroom.
The capsule hotel called “Darak Hyu" will be located on the first floor of the airport’s transportation center and have 60 rooms, 30 rooms on the east and west each, for passengers with connecting flights.
Guest rooms are available in four types – rooms with a single or double bed with or without a shower. A shared shower facility will be offered for guests who stay at rooms without a shower booth. A room with a single bed and a shower booth measures about 6.28 square meters (1.9 pyeong). Room rates range from 8,000 to 13,000 won per hour.
With a keyless system integrating with the Internet of Things (IoT), guests can easily and quickly check in and out and adjust lighting and temperature from their smartphones.
Rooms are equipped with individual air-conditioning and heating systems, noise reduction systems, Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth speakers. In particular, the hotel will limit the noise levels to below 40 decibels (㏈), which is about the same level in public libraries. Advanced reservations will be available from January 1 at its official website (www.walkerhill.com/capsulehotel).
