Lotte Duty Free said it was "fortunate and thankful" to be selected as a duty free shop operator in Seoul on December 17. “We will become a better company which contributes to local and national economies not to speak of attracting foreign tourists and creating jobs through active investment in and the development of Korean cultural wave contents and fulfilling social responsibilities via win-win growth with small and medium sized companies,” said a representative of Lotte Duty Free.

In the meantime, on December 13, "Jamsil Lotte World Tower which will open in April next year will feature World Tower Duty Free Shop. We will make the duty free shop 'a mecca of tourism, culture and win-win growth' with a view to making Lotte World Tower a landmark of Northeast Asia which will create a better future for Korea’s tourism," Lotte Duty Free said.

Lotte Duty Free plans to combine the best tourism cultural contents with Lotte World Tower which will become a new landmark of Korea to make Lotte World Tower ‘a mecca of tourism.’ The largest duty-free shop in the country will be connected to the world's highest (123-story, 500-meter-high) observatory duty-free shop, a multiplex theater listed in the Guinness Book of Records for its largest screen size (34m by 13.8m) in the world,  the world’s longest underwater tunnel (85m), a mammoth-sized aquarium, and Korea’s first vineyard-style concert hall.

In particular, Lotte World Tower, scheduled to open April next year, is expected to play a leading role as a catalyst to create demand for tourism on its own as the nation’s tallest and the world’s fifth tallest building.

"By making the World Tower Duty Free a mecca of the tourism and culture of Korea, we will not only inform the world of Korea and the Korean culture but play the roles of a forward base for the export industry which will contribute to vitalizing the Korean economy by boosting the status of Korea’s tourism," said Jang Seon-wook, CEO of Lotte Duty Free.
