Korea East-West Power Corporation announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Forestry Promotion Institute (KOFPI) at the headquarters in Ulsan on December 13 to utilize Indonesia’s wooden biomass.

Under the agreement, Korea East-West Power will now able to use wooden biomass plantation in Indonesia which is created by the KOFPI as energy sources for power generation.

The KOFPI has joined hands with Indonesia’s state-run Perum Perhutani to carry out wooden biomass plantation projects since 2013 and it is planning to create 2,000 hectares of wooden biomass plantation by 2017.

Korea East-West Power will bring in 15,000 tons of wooden biomass for tests in 2017 and gradually increase the quantity after analyzing the economic feasibility through tests, including combustion.
