CJ CGV, South Korea's largest multiplex chain, said it will collaborate with a Hollywood studio to co-produce “We Kill Death,” the first English film made for Screen X, at the 2016 CGV Movie Industry Media Forum held at the CGV Yongsan Theater in Seoul on December 2. The movie will be directed by Eric Brevig, who previously directed “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” and is aimed at a theatrical release in the second half of 2017.

The film sees the story of death-defying skywalkers who climb high-rise buildings to pose for stunningly scary photographs. It will be designed and shot as a Screen X-specific production, which delivers a 270-degree experience by using two side screens in addition to the cinema's existing main screen. Alex Ginzburg, best known for producing the first-person sci fi action movie “Hardcore Henry,” will produce.

Brevig and Ginzburg attended the forum, raising expectations for Screen X. “I fell in love with the ScreenX process when I saw a demonstration of it in Los Angeles and I feel that ScreenX is a technology that allows me as the storyteller to immerse the audience better in the film that we're telling,” said Brevig

The film crew casted Vitaliy Raskalov and Vadim Makhorov, who slipped through security at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, and took a picture from atop the 123-floor skyscraper in April.

Choi Byung-hwan, CEO of CJ CGV 4DPlex, said, “We'll increase the numbers of ScreenX theaters to 1,000 by 2020 and produce 40 titles, including Hollywood films, a year, establishing the global lineups.” CJ CGV currently operates 107 ScreenX theaters in Korea, China and North America.
