LG Innotek participated in the Electronica 2016 in Munich, Germany from November 8 to 11 (local time).

The Electronica is the world’s largest electronic components exhibition with more than 2,700 material and component companies from about 50 countries and about 70,000 visitors from around the world.

LG Innotek presented three experiential zones –- Automotive, Smart and LED -- at the exhibition, introducing more than 50 kinds of innovative parts such as automobile parts, parts for the internet of things (IoT), mobile parts and lighting LEDs. LG Innotek showcased key components for the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) in the Automotive Zone including camera modules for vehicles and communication modules. The company considered the European market in which smart car development is in full swing.

In particular, Camera Module for the Around View Monitor (AVM) uses the company's world-class optical technology to minimize image distortion. The module allows a driver to easily look at situations around the car by realizing high definition picture quality.

V2X Module is a key component that integrates internet of things (IoT) technology into cars. Visitors paid much attention to the fact that its communication distance is more than 1km. This product is easy to mount as LG Innotek made an RF (radio frequency) chip, a baseband chip and a processor into this one single small module. In addition, LG Innotek introduced the world's first flexible LED surface light source module for automotive front and rear lamps and highly reliable LED packages for vehicles. These products come in various designs and were well received by European customers.

LG Innotek received much attention by introducing smart sensors for the IoT in the Smart Zone. Visitors were given opportunities to try smart home sensors which detect the opening of a door and a movement, radar modules that can sense movements and breathing, and gas sensors that can find out gas concentrations and ingredients. The company exhibited a fiber-type flexible pressure sensor that could be rolled up like a fabric and sense pressures on entire sensor surfaces. The fiber-type flexible pressure sensor enables customized services according to its user's health condition or driving environment by being applied to environment medical devices and automobiles.

In addition, on exhibit were key components for smart devices including communication modules such as those for such as Zigbee and LTE to which the world's best wireless communication technology was applied and ultra-slim HDIs for mobile devices. LG Innotek also took the wrap off lighting and industrial LEDs such as high-efficiency high-power LED packages, DOB LED modules and environment-friendly UV LEDs.

A DOB LED module integrates an LED and a power supply device on one single printed circuit board. Thus, the module does not need a separate power supply device. The component can increase light efficiency and make brightness control easier, reducing eye fatigue. The company’s sanitary UVC LEDs for sterilization, purification, and curing and industrial UVA LEDs boast world-class performance and reliability. European customers who place much importance on optical quality showed great interest in them.

On top of that, LG Innotek displayed Visible Light Communication (VLC) Solution, a state-of-the-art communication solution. This product transmits and receives data by using visible light emitted by an LED so that it can realize an IoT environment without a communication modem.
