According to industry sources, each of GM Korea, Renault Samsung Motors and Ssangyong Motors showed a positive year-on-year growth in terms of cumulative domestic sales in the first 10 months of this year. GM Korea is expected to rank third in the South Korean market at the end of this year following Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.

GM Korea sold 144,726 cars in South Korea between January and October this year, up 12.5% from a year ago. The figures are 84,458 and 32.4% for Renault Samsung Motors and 83,379 and 5.2% for Ssangyong Motors.

For reference, Renault Samsung Motors had sold a total of 80,017 cars in the country last year and its goal for this year is 110,000 in the domestic market. Ssangyong Motors is expected to break the 100,000 market before the end of this year as well. The automaker’s sales volume had totaled 99,664 last year.

With the sales volumes of GM Korea and the other two showing a difference amounting to 60,000 cars or so, much attention is being paid to which one of Ssangyong Motors and Renault Samsung Motors will clinch the fourth place. The difference between their cumulative sales volumes was no more than 1,079 as of the end of last month.
