Korea Western Power Co., or KOWEPO, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the U.S.-based Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the KEPCO Research Institute (KEPRI) at the Kimdaejung Convention Center on November 3 for technical cooperation in the gas turbine sector.

Previously, KOWEPO and the EPRI signed a MOU to collaborate on maintenance management technology in February. With the latest MOU, the two parties are expanding technical cooperation further.

Under the agreement, KOWEPO, in cooperation with the two institutes, will develop the technology to regenerate and maintain high temperature components for gas turbine, which has largely depended on gas turbine producers, and advance the gas turbine operation technology and commercialize the regeneration and maintenance technology based on the experience of gas turbine operation and information exchanges about the latest technology trends and new technologies.

After signing the maintenance technical agreement in February, KOWEPO has worked together with the EPRI to advance and commercialize KOWEPO’s preventive maintenance (WP-PM) technologies through evaluation, analysis and system integration and are currently developing the integrated maintenance programs.
