IoT for Smart City

Global IoT accelerator SparkLabs announced on Oct. 26 that it will officially launch “SparkLabs IoT,” an Internet of Things (IoT) related startup accelerator program, in the Songdo International Business District (IBD) in Korea, which claims to be the world’s first smart city built from the ground up.

The SparkLabs IoT program is being run by the global IoT accelerator with support from the Creative Economy & Innovative Center, the New Songdo International City Development, the Cisco IoT Innovation Center in Songdo and other partners.

The program will run from November 2016 to April 2017 and participating companies will receive various special benefits as well as free office space in the Incheon Creative Economy & Innovation Center.

In particular, they will be offered intensive mentoring programs and networks from IoT experts of numerous global firms such as Cisco, SAP, IBM, Sphero, Samsung, Evrything, Verizon Ventures and Autodesck.

Namkung Seung, director of the SparkLabs’ IoT program, said, “The program represents an unprecedented opportunity where IoT startups can test and deploy in the world’s first smart city.”

The SparkLabs IoT program is open to local and overseas IoT start-ups. To apply, visit the official website www.sparklabsiot.com and submit an application by Nov. 9.
