Rumors have been going around that Samsung Electronics will make a sooner launch of the Galax 8, the Korean smartphone giant’s next flagship model since the obsolescence of sales of the Galaxy Note 7 in the second half of this year. According to the smartphone industry and foreign media reports on October 23, some people guessed that Samsung Electronics will release the Galaxy S8 about one month earlier than its originally scheduled date during the Mobile World Congress in February of 2017. They said that Samsung Electronics launch the Galaxy S8 to fill the vacuum left by the Galaxy Note 7.

But some experts are expressing concerns that the early launch of the Galaxy S6 will do the company more harm than good.  This is because Samsung Electronics has not recovered consumer trust as the exact causes of the fire-catching accidents have not identified yet.

“It is virtually impossible for Samsung Electronics to move up the date of the Galaxy S8 as the company’s hands are full due to follow-up measures to deal with the Galaxy Note 7 Incident,” said a representative of the smartphone industry.

"Amid a slew of various guesses about the causes of the fires, unless Samsung Electronics properly elucidates what ignited the fires, its next smartphone model may risk the same problem. This will prevent Samsung Electronics from awkwardly moving up the date of the next product’s launch.”

A hard fact is that the more the vacuum of the Galaxy Note 7 will grow in the second half of this year, the heavier burdens on the company about the Galaxy S8 will become. In particular, this is because as Apple is putting its blood into the development of the next iPhone model for the next year which will mark the iPhone’s tenth anniversary, Samsung Electronics will have to come up with a new model that can eclipse the next iPhone model.

It is known that Samsung Electronics is developing the Galaxy S8 under the code name of Dream or Dream 2 these days. According to the smartphone industry, Samsung will apply a new bezelless design (edge to edge), a 3840x2160 display, a 10-nanometer mobile AP (Exynos 8895) and a rear dual camera (16 million pixels) among others to the Galaxy S8.

A glass integrated fingerprint module will be applied to a new “edge to edge” design of the Galaxy S8, eliminating a front physical home button.

Its display resolution will improve to UHD in two years, supporting high-quality VR videos.

In particular, it is also predicted that the Galaxy S8 will feature an iris recognition function more advanced than that of the Galaxy Note 7 and a new AI-based voice secretary service based on an AI platform of VIV Labs recently taken over by Samsung Electronics.

“It is expected that Samsung Electronics will load the Galaxy S8 with many innovative technologies with a view to making up for the failure of the Galaxy Note 7," said a representative of the smartphone industry. “The company will muse more over the launch of the next model as it is important not to repeat the same mistake rather than to launch the new model in a hurry.”
