Shinhan Card Co., the nation's largest credit card issuer, held a ceremony marking the company´s 9th founding anniversary called “Di9ital 1001” on October 4. The Di9ital 1001, which consists of digital numbers of only 0 and 1, symbolizes the company’s foundation day on October 1 and its digital innovation keyword emphasizing the 9th founding anniversary.

Unlike the past format, in particular, Shinhan Card President Wi Sung-ho directly posted his founding anniversary message on Instagram and had a digital chat with employees via various mobile apps at the Di9ital 1001 event.

Moreover, he made video calls with employees at the overseas subsidiaries in countries such as Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Myanmar, reconfirming the importance of global business.

On the same day, President Wi said, “Ushering in the new digital era of the 21st century, we should accelerate the digital transformation to create new customer values and businesses by using digital systems in all sectors. Declaring this year as the first year of digital transformation, we need to jump up to be a multi finance company with global competence again with our efforts to seek constant changes and innovation.”

In addition, he suggested “hyper gap” as Shinhan Card’s keyword to become a leader in the new digital market. Wi said that the company should secure a dominant position through borderless sales, differentiated new technologies and non-price competitiveness in the integrating credit card market so that competitors can’t even pursue.
