Tesla, a leading company in the electric car industry, applied for its first certificate for the S90D in Korea to the Ministry of Environment recently.

According to the electric car industry and the Ministry of Environment on September 28, Tesla applied for the certification of gas emissions and noises from the S 90D model to the National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment. It became more likely that the S 90D model will be the first Tesla model that will be sold in Korea.

Earlier Tesla announced that they will open their first retail shop at Starfield Hanam in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province in the second half of this year.

Tesla cars will be officially launched in Korea when Tesla is registered as a manufacturer in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after obtaining a certificate from the Ministry of Environment. To be registered as a manufacturer, Tesla has to secure and prove human resources and facilities to provide post-sale services for their vehicles.

Subsidies for Tesla’s electric cars were not set yet. This is because the electric car company did not apply for subsidies for electric cars to the Ministry of Environment.

They did not disclose the price of the S 90D in the Korean market, either. The same model is priced at US$ 90,000. On a single charge, the luxury sedan can run up for 473 kilometers.
