Samsung Electronics’ smartphones are continuously evolving. The company, which already featured iris scanner and water and dust resistance in its smartphones, is expected to release a more advanced smartphone with the S Pen featuring a speaker.

The company According to us-based IT media Phone Arena on Sept. 26 (local time) and industry sources on September 27, Samsung Electronics submitted a patent application for the S Pen with a built-in speaker to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In regard to the patent, the company introduced it as its new Galaxy Note Pen. Until now, the Galaxy Note series have had a pen called the S Pen. The S Pen will be renamed as the Galaxy Note Pen to maintain the unity between products and accessories.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Pen will deliver audio through the speaker on the top when it is docked into the device. When the pen is removed, audio will come out from the inner speaker of the device alone. In addition, when the speaker in built in the pen, the speaker grilles on the phone will be removed. Through this, the phone can have a simpler design but a stronger waterproof feature. 

Samsung Electronics is advancing the S Pen in the Note series as a core feature that can be differentiated from other products. The company introduced a waterproof feature in the S Pen of the Galaxy Note 7, which was launched last month, for the first time, allowing customers to write on the device's screen with the S Pen even underwater in the water. The Galaxy Note 7 was seen as innovative due to its ability to automatically translate words from any foreign language by just hovering the S Pen over the specific word and to create short animated GIFs with video clips.
