Over the past five years, China was followed by Japan and the US.
According to data on Korean’s major overseas travel destinations over the past five years handed out to Ahn Min-seok, a lawmaker of the Minjoo Party and a member of the Education, Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee at the National Assembly, it was found that Koreans have visited China most frequently since 2011.
Japan and the US placed second and third. Other favorite destinations were Thailand, the Philippines and Hong Kong.
Last year along, China was visited by 4,444,000 Koreans. This means that one tenth of the Korean people visited China. This is the first time that the number of Korean visitors to each foreign country is officially announced.
