Hyundai E&C said on Sept. 21 that it has been selected as the world’s No. 1 for four straight years in the construction and engineering industry of the 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) recently released.
DJSI names the top 10% companies per industry “DJSI World,” and then more specifically it gives the name of “DJSI Asia Pacific” to the top 20% among 600 companies in the Asia and Pacific region, with “DJSI Korea” awarded to the top 30% of 200 companies in Korea.
In particular, Hyundai E&C is the only construction company in the world that has been awarded “DJSI World” for seven straight years since 2010, proving that it is globally recognized as the world’s top level company in terms of sustainable management.
After being incorporated into Hyundai Auto Group, Hyundai E&C has also been chosen as “Industry Leader” for four consecutive years, which is the first time in the global construction and engineering industry. “Industry Leader” is given to companies that are likely to be sustainable for the longest period per industry, and the Korean primary builder has gained honor to be selected as the longest sustainable construction company beating out best builders such as Spain-based Ferrovial and France-based Vinci.
“The four-year consecutive selection as the world’s No.1 sustainable builder is attributed to our high scores in financially outstanding performance, eco-friendly business management, steady contribution to society, and shared growth with partner companies. We expect that this selection will improve global investors’ recognition for our company, leading to investment expansion,” said an official at Hyundai E&C
