Smartphone users will be able to delete preinstalled applications on their devices by the end of the year.

By the end of this year, users will be able to delete preinstalled applications on smartphones if they want to. In addition, when a company asks a person for a consent to providing personal information to a third party, the company will have to inform the person whether or not he will provide his personal information free or charge.

Location information service operators will be able to start their business just by reporting their business to government offices instead of receiving permission.

The Korea Communications Commission passed revisions of enforcement ordinances of the Telecommunications Business Act and the Information Communication Law which include the above-mentioned contents in its 53rd general meeting on September 21.

According to an enforcement ordinance of the Telecommunications Business Act, the Korea Communications Commission prohibits the unfair obstruction of the deletion of software not required for the operation of electric telecommunication devices and limiting electric telecommunication services.

Accordingly, users will be able to delete preinstalled applications on their smartphones difficult to delete in the past.
