On September 8, Samsung Electronics held an official signing ceremony for the acquisition of Dacor at the headquarters of the latter located in the City of Industry in California.

The ceremony was attended by 300 founders and executive and staff members of the American company and Los Angeles city officials as well as Samsung representative director Yoon Boo-geun.

Samsung Electronics is planning to shore up its high-end consumer electronics lineup and distribution through the acquisition of Dacor. The company’s competitiveness in the B2B segment covering luxury home appliances is expected to be enhanced to a large extent so it can have a greater presence in the North American consumer electronics market as a whole.

According to industry sources, the size of the North American home appliances market is forecast to reach US$30 billion in 2020 after growing at an annual average of 4%. In addition, segments of the market related to housing and real estate are likely to grow faster. Luxury packages consisting of ovens, cooktops, hoods, dishwashers and so on, which are priced at over US$20,000 per package, are showing a double-digit annual growth rate these days.
