KT said on September 8 that it has been included in the wire and wireless category of the 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for seven straight years.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is evaluated every year by global financial information provider Dow Jones and Swiss sustainability evaluation agency RobecoSam, selecting top corporations among the world’s largest 3,000 companies in terms of market capitalization. The companies are evaluated on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of economic, environmental, and social contributions.

In the economic field, the South Korean telephone company was evaluated highly in the transparent corporate governance, customer-first management, innovative management, private information protection, and shared growth of the economic sphere. It also scored highest in the tackling of global climate change, environment-friendly policies as a wire and wireless communications provider.

In the social field, the company received highest sores in the social contribution and human resources development as a wire/wireless communications provider, as well as in the health and safety, risk management, and narrowing information gap. The results suggest that KT was selected as one of global wire and wireless communications providers with the highest investment value from the long-term prospective.

“KT’s seven-consecutive entry to the DJSI global index means that it has joined the ranks of global leaders in terms of sustainable management,” said Yoon Jong-jin, a senior KT vice president, adding, “We will make all-out efforts to figure out how to contribute to the sustainability of the world beyond KT itself.”
