Construction of Mosque Dome
On August 22, Daelim Industrial announced that the company successfully put a dome atop the main tower of the Sungai Brunei Bridge under construction in Brunei. The dome of the traditional architecture of mosques is the core design which symbolizes the Sungai Brunei Bridge. The dome is 13.6 meters high and weighs 9.5 tons.
A crane pulled up the dome from the upper layer of the bridge to the top of the bridge. After the installation of the dome, the main tower became 157 meters high. The main tower of Sungai Brunei Bridge is the highest structure in Brunei.
The event was held with the participation of clients including Haji Bahrin, minister of development of Brunei and about 100 employees of Daelim Industrial. The installation of the dome put an end to most of the major processes of the Sungai Brunei Bridge project. At the moment, the progress is about 88%. The bridge will be completed in January 2017.
The Sungai Brunei Bridge project connects both sides of the Brunei River that dissects Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. The Brunei government placed the order to develop the nation’s southern area and vitalize its national economy. The bridge, when completed, will decrease the current distance of 40 kilometers to 622 meters.
