K-Pop Festival for Winter Olympics

In a bid to promote the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Olympics at home and aboard and attract foreign tourists to Korea, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is hosting the K-pop Festival at the 20,000-seat Gocheok Sky Dome baseball stadium at 7 pm on September 8.

The lineup of the festival includes top k-pop stars such as Shinee, Beast, Wonder Girls, Monsta X, Cosmic Girls, Boys Republic and B.A.P. Also, Singer Gummy and actor Jin Goo will introduce the OST track for KBS2's hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” at the event. Big Bang, Psy and Exxo will appear as guest stars through videos. In addition, various events will be held to promote tourist attractions in Gangwon Province in where the Olympic Games will be hosted and Hallyu Korean hit dramas.

Since the festival aims to promote Korea’s new culture to foreign tourists and raise awareness about Korea before for the upcoming Olympics, foreign tourists will be offered separate reserved seats. Foreign visitors can download tickets from the official website (www.pyeongchangkpopfestival.com) as well as official social media channels of overseas KTO branches.

Yoo Jin-ho, head of the strategic product team at the KTO, said, “With the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Olympics 500 days ahead on September 27, we expect that the event will help promoting the 2018 Winter Olympics at home and abroad and boosting the number of foreign tourists.
