Huawei released the Matebook, a two-in-one PC, in South Korea on August 10. Its product launching ceremony in the country held on that day was for the first time in nearly two years since the X3 smartphone launching ceremony in September 2014.

At present, most of Huawei products available in South Korea are inexpensive ones, such as the X3 and Y6 smartphones, but the Matebook is a high-end PC. The Chinese company released a less expensive tablet PC, MediaPad M2, along with the Matebook as well. This implies that the company is aiming for a higher market share in South Korea with diverse products.

The Matebook is Huawei’s first two-in-one PC in which the mobility of a smartphone is effectively combined with the productivity of a laptop PC in its super-slim and super-light frame. It was unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress in February and won many prizes there. It has been released in European countries, Japan, etc. The M3 model of the PC coming with the Intel Core M processor starts at 889,000 won. The MediaPad M2 is priced at 299,000 won. The other products shown at the ceremony include various accessories ranging from 10,000 won to 20,000 won in price such as the AM12 Plus earphone, AM08 Bluetooth speaker and the AP006 and AP007 batteries.

Huawei is planning to shore up its distribution network in South Korea, too. In this context, the company formed a partnership with Shinsegae I&C for the sale and marketing of the Matebook and other products in the country. Those products are to be made available at an increasing number of online and offline stores like Shinsegae Department Stores, eMarts, 11ST and SSG.com.
