The 8th K-Beauty Expo, the largest beauty fair in Korea, will be held at the KINTEX in Ilsan from October 13 to 16.

The expo has been sponsored by the KINTEX and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and organized by the Government of Gyeonggi Province to promote the beauty industry, a new growth engine in the future, since 2009. At the event this year, around 500 firms will take a view of K-beauty today and tomorrow at their 700 booths.

The companies in various beauty sectors will display items from cosmetics – skin care and makeup products, perfumes, soaps and makeup tools, hair products – hair care and scalp care products, hair styling tools and hair color products, nail products – nail polish and nail art products, nail strengtheners, foot care products and nail art equipment, raw materials – packing such as OEM, ODM, product raw materials and packaging, and to healthcare products – slimming products, pilates exercise equipment, fitness products and massagers.

There will also be special exhibitions. Detox and weight loss products and healing foods will be put on display in the inner beauty food hall, while men’s skin care products and men’s perfumes will be shown in the men’s beauty hall. In the medical service hall, Korean plastic surgery clinics, dermatology clinics, dental clinics and ophthalmic clinics will have beauty consultation sessions.

With the K-beauty having gained popularity with hallyu, or Korean Wave, a considerable number of international visitors and buyers are expected to attend the K-Beauty Expo again this year. KOTRA has invited 200 buyers to the event through its 125 international trade centers and the World Overseas Korean Traders Association and it will hold one-to-one export consultation sessions at the preliminary business matching meeting. The organizer expects that a total of 2,000 foreigners will visit the expo.

During the expo, various concurrent events will take place, including “2016 Innovative Product Award,” which awards innovative products chosen by international reporters and beauty YouTubers, “Distribution Conference with Korea MDs,” which invites merchandisers of department stores, large discount stores, social e-commerce websites and home shopping sites, and “Live Beauty Home Shopping,” a beauty show program that promotes products of selected firms with home shopping hosts.
