Competition among premium phones is expected in the smartphone market where value models enjoyed a boom. It is expected that when Samsung Electronics starts a new race with the new model Galaxy Note 7, Apple will fiercely pursue Samsung Electronics with the iPhone 7.

According to the electronics industry on July 11, Samsung Electronics will take the wrap off the Galaxy Note 7 at Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, New York at 11 am on August 2.

The Galaxy Note 7 will feature “iris recognition” as its biggest weapon. Iris recognition is drawing attention as the next-generation identification technology after fingerprint recognition.

Samsung Electronics confirmed in an internet teaser video that it loaded into the Galaxy Note 7 a convenient iris-based security lock, in addition to passwords, security patterns and fingerprint identification, by inserting the copy, “Why Complicated Passwords?”. The advertisement teaser also suggested foreign language translation support and water resistance with the copies, “Whey Do You Study Hard to Memorize Foreign Words?” and “Do You Worry about Letting Your Smartphones Fall into Water?”.

According to Samsung Electronics and overseas IT media, an edge design was applied to the new phone. So both sides of the screen’s edge are bent. The Galaxy Note 7 has a quad HD super AMOLED display and is 73.9mm (horizontal)×153.5 mm (vertical)×7.9mm (thick).

It is 0.3㎜ thicker than the Galaxy Note 5. Its internal memory is 64GB. It will have a 3500mAh battery and come in three colors –- silver, gold and blue.

Even though the Galaxy Note 7 is the next version of the Galaxy Note 5, the new model was named the Galaxy Note 7 to create synergies with the Galaxy S7 which has enjoyed big popularity since its launch in March. Apple’s new smartphone will make its debut in the third week of September. It is said that the iPhone 7’s new weapon will be a dual camera. A dual camera has two lenses so that it can enhance the quality of photos such as the maximization of depth effects. LG Electronics and Huawei already commercialized dual cameras. So, the point is what differences Apple will make.

It is forecast that the new model will be similar to the iPhone 6 in external design. A 3.50-mm earphone port will be removed, reducing its thickness. It will be also water proof, have a high-capacity battery and feature a wireless charging system.

LG Electronics will aim to turn the tide with the next model of the V series. The next edition of the V10 is expected to launch in September. The new model is highly likely to be called the “V20.” It is projected that the V20 will have much more advanced multimedia functions. “The new model will feature much better video and functions which customers liked about the V10,” LG Electronics said during the announcement of its second quarter earnings.

In late September, completion among smartphones will be intensified by the launches of strategic smartphones by Samsung Electronics and Apple.
